Preliminary Task Evaluation
For our preliminary task we were set the objective to create a short piece of film where characters would exchange dialogue and we would use a range of shots, as well as include the 180 degree rule, The 180 degree rule is a cinematography guideline that states that two characters in a scene should maintain in the same left/right relationship as each other. When the camera passes over the invisible axis, connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line and the shot becomes what is called a reverse angle.Leading up to filming we lost one of the members of the group, Sam, although Sam was enthusiastic about the project he decided to pursue something else so we had to work around losing his contribution. In doing so, Jamie really developed and helped out the group massively, providing all the props necessary for our actors to use such as envelopes, a lab coat and signs to post around the academy. The process is finding suitable actors was also extremely monotonous as people were dropping out as our schedule didn't fit theirs, in the end we settled for James and Max, with a slight cameo from Kieron as we felt his abundant facial hair provided him with the maturity necessary to portray a real school teacher. Upon filming we found being organised allowed us to produce a better quality of work and we got the filming completed more efficiently than expected, finishing in less time than we had scheduled to.
This was due to everyone involved working together and having a strong work ethic allowed us to complete the filming quicker as well as add all the appropriate shots we needed. However, the editing process was stressful. After the footage from the SD card took us longer than everyone else's to import onto the Mac's we were behind. I felt this impacted my work as I had to start over a few times, this was due to a number of factors: my lack of experience using Premier Pro, my ability to save the project so it didn't fail to recognise my work and the time that we were working under meant I felt i rushed my editing, making for some sloppy shots, i will try to correct this for future work. Overall, I felt we met the expectations of the task (barely) with the exceptional of some diabolical camera footage which was later deleted, resurrected, then deleted again, and the stress of meeting a deadline having less time than everyone else. When it comes to the main task I am going to remain in the same group because the filing process was well organised and we achieved everything in a suitable time, I just need to improve my ability to edit on Adobe Premier Pro.
Your evaluation contains some relevant and interesting thoughts but he absence of the actual PT from the post makes it difficult for me to assess this properly.
ReplyDeleteCan you please do the following:
1. Embed your completed PT via YouTube.
2. Look closely again at the requirements of the PT evaluation. Ther are 5 parts to this and your evaluation should be organized in 5 paragraphs which reflect this.
..on a separate note Harvey, can you change your default font colour from this horrendous apricot to something that is a little more traditional (and easier to read) such as black or dark navy blue....
