60 Second Pitch :

Task 1: Planning : Production Company Name

we decided to call our production company optimis semper  productions This is Latin for 'best ever' but we decided to translate it into a different language as it sounded more professional and original. We had drafted a few initial idea's previously. Such as 'Nurse Carol' Productions and 'Jump scare Productions' however, we decided optimis semper was the most appropriate. Below, we have inserted a logo for our groups production company. Although it may appear as deceptively simplistic; In the 1700's the majority of gothic literarture that inspired some horror films in the early stages of directing lower budget films, appeared initially in Latin and was transferred into English. This gave us the idea to translate our name into Latin.

Task 2

Planning : Brainstorming Initial Ideas

For this part of the planning, we mind mapped the different styles of Horror films you would expect to find in a low budget horror as well as the typical codes and conventions you would typically expect to find in them, based on the idea's we came up with we decided to discuss the positive and negative aspects of them e.g. too expensive or geographically not possible such as filming the opening scene in a cave.

Task 3

Planning : Decision Making

The name of the film is going to be called Zyklon B. The plot is that a white supremacy group called the Zyklons are running after a group of people when one of them inexplicably drops their bag. 2 Weeks later, 3 friends ( aged around 12-14) are playing in the woods when they encounter the bag which contains almost £20,000 pounds in cash as well as a nazi armband and a locket with that belonged to a Nazi soldier on it ( Zyklon B gas was used by the Nazi's to kill the jewish people in the holocaust) 2 of the boys are desperate for money where as the one wealthier boy wants to take responsibility and hand the bag in to the place, knowing what the Zyklon's are capable of.

As two of the boys tussle over the bag another strikes him in the back of the head, killing him instantly. The boys have to hide his body and then think of a story when their friend is inevitably reported as missing. Furthermore the ongoing pursuit of the enraged Zyklon who returns to the scene of the crime to find their bag missing. The Zylkon's are named after Zyklon gas which was used to kill the jews in the holocaust, so they have a reputation of bloodshed. Will the boys evade the white supremacy group who are out for revenge and have a thirst for blood, can they all avoid the authorities when their dead friend is reported missing? Was the need for money in desperate times worth the consequences
